"An excellent Catholic school has a clearly articulated, rigorous curriculum aligned with relevant standards, 21st century skills, and Gospel values, implemented through effective instruction."(Standard 7 of the National Standards and Benchmarks for effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools, NCEA)
"An effective instructional practice loses effectiveness if the curriculum isn’t strong enough…and conversely, having high academic standards isn’t enough if they are not implemented through powerful instructional methods.”

CURRICULUM SUPPORT For SAFE ENVIRONMENT TRAINING
Operating standards for all schools in the State of Ohio require that personal safety and assault prevention be taught in grades kindergarten through six.
Operating standards for the Ohio Catholic Schools Accrediting Association have the same requirements.
Rather than using a commercial, stand alone program, the Diocese of Columbus has chosen to include this information in its curricula. This allows us to provide the information to our students in an age appropriate language throughout their academic careers.
The Diocese of Columbus implements this requirement through the Religion Graded Course of Study in schools and Parish Schools of Religion. In addition, in Catholic schools, objectives in the Graded Courses of Study for Health and Family Consumer Science provide additional opportunities for instruction.
Click here for the standards in the Religion, Health and Family Consumer Science courses that are aligned with the Safe environment requirements.
