Infant Classroom Teacher

Our Lady of Bethlehem, located at 4567 Olentangy River Road in Columbus, is seeking candidates for a full-time teacher in our Infant Classroom. The position requires availability during the week, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 6:45 am – 6:00 pm. Shift and schedule may vary by day.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:- Providing exceptional care, education and supervision for children while maintaining appropriate teacher-to-student ratios
- Creating and maintaining a safe and positive learning environment
- Planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities
- Providing social-emotional guidance and support for children
- Completing additional daily operational tasks, such as cleaning and sanitizing classrooms and adjacent areas
- Collaborating with co-teachers and other staff to develop and follow best practices for classroom instruction and care
- Communicating with parents on a daily basis, both in person and via student daily on-line reporting system
Requirements:- Candidates must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred
- At least two continuous years of experience in an infant and toddler setting is required
- Candidates must complete satisfactory FBI and BCI background checks and must participate in a VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children training
- Candidates must be enthusiastic, passionate, charismatic and nurturing
- Candidates must possess strong oral and written communication skills and demonstrate a solid work ethic

St. Joseph Montessori School, located at 933 Hamlet Street in Columbus, provides a Montessori Catholic learning community that honors the whole child and their immense potential.
Position Overview:
Aftercare is an extension of our students’ school day and offers specific programming and enrichment learning experiences. This position is for energetic and creative individuals interested in working with students ages 6 to 14 from 2:30 PM - 6:00 PM. A person selected for this position will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of the students in the after-school program at St. Joseph Montessori School; being an Aftercare Teacher requires supervising, playing, and learning with children while consistently sharing and planning activities.
This position reports to the St. Joseph Montessori School Assistant Head of School. This position requires collaboration and working in a co-teaching-type atmosphere. Hours are extended one day each month for professional development and planning (6:00 PM -7:00 PM)
Responsibilities:
- Supervise the classroom, playground, and any other setting in which children participate in activities.
- Treats every child with the dignity and respect they deserve.
- Maintains a professional attitude and appearance throughout the day.
- Assist in necessary cleaning and maintenance tasks.
- Always participates in the dismissal process at the end of the day, ensuring that every child in their care has left with an authorized adult.
- Participates in necessary professional development opportunities, including seminars, courses, training, and classroom observations.
- Maintains a clean and organized classroom.
- Report to the Assistant Head of School any problems regarding a child that may occur and any conversations with parents about a child.
- Contributes to building a sense of community. Greet children and parents with a smile, learn of student's interests outside of the classroom and their families, and attend school functions in which students participate.
- Works with other staff members to build a positive, supportive team atmosphere.
- Helps establish good habits of personal hygiene and assists with toilet training.
- Be a creative and self-starting educator. Bring your interests and hobbies to the classroom to share with your students!
- Be a role model and display the behavior and temperament you wish to see from your students.

Qualifications:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Must have prior experience supervising or educating children.
- Must take initiative, display a willingness to learn from and be supportive of others, and must fulfill all responsibilities in accordance with the SJMS program and philosophy.
- Must have a warm friendly personality, be sensitive and aware of the feelings of others, and be able to relate well with children.
